It far exceeded my expectations. I bought two copies, one for myself and one as a gift for a colleague who is a horticulturist. She also was delighted, and revealed that she had always wanted to be a botanical artist, and this book has perhaps given her an incentive to fulfill that ambition, perhaps going back to school to do so. She had taken courses and excelled in them at Harvard's Arnold Arboretum. She is a brilliant young Irish woman who took her degree at Dublin University and knew and admired Mark Laird's writings. So that was a hit.

I was also pleased to find mention of my ancestor, Maria Sibylla Merian, the seventeenteentheighteenth-century

This is an introductory book on `Environmental Psychology'.... which features more than a normal person can imagine ..... it is NOT a book related to common sociological issues on global warming, nuclear waste disposal, environmental strikes and demonstration etc...., This book is related to psychology and features on content related to the environment and the behaviour of people. It is explained in psychological perspectives and is suitable for readers with a basic depth in understanding terminology related to psychology. There are theories on relationship between environmental and behaviour, environmental perception (such as Gestalt psych etc.,) Additionally descriptions on extraneous factors of noise, temperature, barometric pressure and attitude, wind, heat and cold, physical built structures (clusters etc.,), on behaviour.
Furthermore, there are chapters on disasters, Toxic Hazards and pollutions, and most interesting of all, the concepts of personal space and territorial behaviour, high density and crowding .....the effects of life in urban city in contrast to rural outback areas....theories on Architecture, Design and Engineering for Human Behaviour. Additionally topics on `design in residential and institutional environments', `work, learning and leisure environments', and the psychology perspective to changing people's behaviour towards saving the environment etc.,,
This book is worth every penny of it.....it is worth keeping it as a resource material !

Buy the actual book DON'T BUY THE KINDLE VERSION

What they don't tell you is that while you save some money in getting the kindle version, you lose on a big benefit. They have additional practice testing resources that aren't included in the kindle version. It includes the instructions on how to set it up, then when you get to the code. "the kindle version doesn't include this".

Such total BS that you have to kill trees to get a digital resource.

Good prep for A+

18 years after getting a BS in computer science -- all of it spent writing embedded code -- I was able to pass my A+ cert tests on the first try using this and the Mike Meyers study guide. There are 4 tests for each of the two certification tests (901 and 902), and they increase in difficulty as they go along. I found that my actual cert tests landed somewhere toward the middle, but having been wrung out by these tests, I felt much more confident that I could and would pass.

You'll Never Look at the Civil War in the Same Way Again

This is the text that rekindled my interest in history and the War of Northern Aggression. Several of my subsequent purchases in paperback and on Kindle were a consequence of my interest in following up on the curtain thrown back on the pablum that is taught as "Civil War history".

Good Book But Major Flaw

Sorry author, your anti-german remark at the end warrants this book a 1 star and into the trash.

You stated you'd doubt the South would follow a "paper hanging corporal with toothbrush mustache"

This just shows your lack of indepth research on Hitler. First of all, Hitler won the Iron Cross 2nd and First Class, those being his most important I suppose. He fought in such battles as Flanders, Somme, just to name some popular ones. But yadda yadda, I guess your handlers made you include atleast 1-2 anti-german remarks. When's the PIG to National Socialism coming out?

Oh good civil war info btw. I recommend it for any civil war beginner.

All of the Regnery Politically Incorrect Books are worth owning, sharing, spreading around. With the way history is constantly being revised and re-written, it is refreshing to just get the facts, without a lot of looking-through-the-rear-view-mirror. It makes me just want to come up screaming with what the media get away with twisting facts to suit their personal agenda. This is a very well-written, well-documented and FACTUAL book. Recommended for anyone who wants to know the truth.

About the Author
Koshin Paley Ellison, MFA, LMSW, DMIN, cofounded the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care, the first Zen-based organization to offer fully accredited ACPE clinical chaplaincy training in America, which delivers contemplative approaches to care through education, direct service, and meditation practice. Paley Ellison is the academic advisor for the Buddhist students in the Master in Pastoral Care and Counseling program at NYZCCC’s education partner, New York Theological Seminary. He is currently on the faculty of the University of Arizona Medical School’s Center for Integrative Medicine’s Integrative Medicine Fellowship, and he is a visiting professor at the McGovern Center for Humanities and Ethics, of the University of Texas Health Science Center of Houston Medical School.

Paley Ellison is a dynamic, original, and visionary leader and teacher. His public programs have introduced thousands to the practices of mindful and compassionate care of the living and dying. This is a book about living

This is an important book about living well. Every one of us will face sickness and death, our own and that of everyone we know. The medical-industrial complex in the United States has metastasized into something that can sometimes treat and sometimes cure, but almost never cares for patients. This book is part of a large and growing conversation about how we can better use our resources to provide compassionate care for all of us.

I am awake and grateful.

Anatole France said, "Until you have had the love of an animal in your life, part of your soul remains unawakened." I was reminded of this quote when reading the invigorating, informative and affecting book "Awake at the Bedside." After you read this book, it's not death that will seem inevitable, but life. I am awake and grateful. I loved this book.

I highly recommend this book for its honesty and warmth

This is an important book for an aging portion of our population, the "Boomers," who are now struggling with their own limited circumstances after believing the world was our oyster (after "winning" the Culture War), only to find that not only must we struggle to deal with aging and inadequate incomes, but our failing parents as well.

Koshin Ellison is a Zen priest, whose compassion is evident in this illuminating but painful to read book. The difficulties in dealing with demented, delusional, and often hostile parents are starkly laid out, along with some examples of how to deal with those difficulties. Thankfully, Ellison's generosity of spirit helps us deal with the difficulties of reading his book.

Aging is not a pretty nor an easy process, especially as we approach end of life. Some manage it more gracefully than others, but some are stricken with senility, multiple medical problems, and financial challenges. This can be seen as a burden, or it may be seen as an opportunity for spiritual practice and growth.

I highly recommend this book for its honesty and warmth, but don't be surprised if you don't finish it. There is only so much "bad news" one can take, and the truth about aging is a harsh one---one the Buddha cited as an example of the First Noble Truth: suffering.

Not what I thought it was going to be

The book was not what I thought it was going to be. I was at least expecting pictures you'd have to identify, after all it is an anatomy study guide book! There were typical questions that you would find throughout the text book that correlates with this book. Too bad there wasn't a way to view some of the pages in the book before deciding whether to buy it or or not. Needless to say, I returned the book.

Frustration

This book helps you; however, it is extremely frustrating to use. There are questions asked and there is not enough space to answer the question. This is a study guide, you should be able to write in it especially since some questions ask to label and some ask questions. Some questions leave one line blank to answer a question that requires a paragraph! It is extremely frustrating.
