JACOBISMS GALORE!!!!

Raw, EMOTIONAL, sweet, brutal, SURPRISING, Heartbreaking, HEARTWARMING, cold, HOT, happy, sad. LOVE.

The amount of pure emotion I experienced while reading this book is why books should be written. End of story.

"I had my chance at happily ever after, though. I held a precious, beautiful butterfly in my hands but let it get away."

Jacob had my heart in Love Square, and after His Ever After he now owns a piece my heart indefinitely! I'd like to start off by saying that I didn't just enjoy this book because of the emotions that I felt, which were HIGH to say the least. I enjoyed this book because I believed in it. I believed in every aspect of every word that I read. This was, and could very well be someone's life out there. And I'm willing to bet that this is probably the most unpredictable book I've ever read.

In Love Square we were left with so many questions, and so many unknowns. Were they all answered in His Ever After? Yes they were! Were thery the answers I wanted or expected? I will tell you this much, about half way through the book I didn't even know what I wanted anymore, everything was thrown out the window. And I just wanted my sweet Jacob to be happy!

"All I want is to take her in my arms and love her for the rest of my life"

His Ever After starts off in Jacob's POV replaying the events from the previous year of his life, reflecting on things he could have done differently, things he wished and hoped for, and things that were out of his control. All leading up to his current life which he is still uncertain of. Living with a woman who he is still uncertain of. Jacob loves Brooke, but his lingering love for Sam will always be there. Samantha is the one that got away, his long lost love if you will. But there's only one problem, Sam is with Aiden. And Aiden is not giving up anytime soon.

"What is it about this girl that has me turned inside out? Why can't I let her go, knowing that she's unavailable?"

Jacob feels torn at certain points, questioning his decisions to stay with Brooke regardless of how things are turning out for him and Sam. As it goes Sam and Aiden are still together, but that doesn't mean that Jacob isn't going to try. He needs to be happy and in love, but with who? Brooke is on the crazy train, and Sam is currently unavailable. This is where the book gets interesting and I refuse to spoil this book for anyone who hasn't read it!

In the mean time... You get POV's from all of the main characters which is a really nice insight to the how and why of Jessica Ingro's crazy smart writing brain! She even throws a cool twist into how a POV is interpreted by the reader. I LOVED it! There are some other characters that show up in this book who I really liked. Kara, who is Brooke's best friend, and a really sweet and pure character which I liked immediately. And Mack, who is also a law man and friends with Jacob. Both characters I really enjoyed. And then there's Emma, Jacob's sister who I LOVED!! And his relationship with his two little nieces just solidifies Jacob's swooniness that much more!!

"I've even played Barbies with my nieces. I mean - I pretended Ken was a secret spy while doing so, because if I'm going to be forced to play with dolls, they better be as cool as James Bond."

Now to the romance!! Jacob is not only sweet, and romantic. He is also a little dirty talker which I love!! He is a very thoughtful character who actually takes the time to not only swoon his counterpart, but to prove his worthiness in order to keep her. Jacob feels spent in his urge to let go and find the peace he needs within himself. But he does. And it's truly beautiful to read and feel.

"Her smell, her laugh, her vulnerability, and the way she makes me feel inside. I want to feel that way all the time. It's like a little oasis away from the sh*t storm I'm constantly living in. I enjoy every respite that she gives me."

Since I can't say much more, as it would totally ruin the book for those who haven't read it. I will say this. The way His Ever After ended was so perfect, so surprisingly perfect. I didn't even know that I needed it to be that way until it just was. And even though I HIGHLY recommend reading Love Square first, it is not completely necessary. You need the full experience to feel complete, but it is a fantastic read regardless! I would recommend His Ever After to ANYBODY and EVERYBODY! One of my favorite books of 2013!! I have so many highlights in my kindle it's ridiculous!

A tortured, dark love story written with a soft hand.

Mistakes made in life can ruin your soul. They certainly have for Jacob and they aren't done taking their toll quite yet. He's lost the love of his life through a manipulative game played by players much more qualified than himself. In return, he gained a first class ticket to the island of relationship hell. And booking a return flight home to sanity is falling farther and farther out of reach.

I was not a huge fan of Sam in book one but she is like Cinder-fing-ella when compared to Brooke. Brooke is like the love child of Maleficent and Ursala. Evil. I'm not even sure she had real motives for her actions, other than winning at some sick game. No matter the wake of turmoil and pain she leaves in her wake.

Jacob is in such a dark place throughout so much of this book. You feel for him, your heart breaks for him, you want to punch him in the neck, you want to cuddle with him and re-assure him that things will get better. He pulls all kinds of emotions but his broody, guilty actions were the ones that pull you in by the panty strings. However, it is soft caring side that have you tugging at his boxers briefs.

His struggle to overcome his guilt and to find one more chance with true love is a wild and passionate ride. Love Squared was a physical book and I feel that HEA is much more of an emotional one.

I'll admit that Love Square was a tough read for me, due to the content. I could not be more delighted to tell you that none of the issues I had in Love Square were present in His Ever After. This is a tortured, dark love story written with a soft hand. HEA grabbed me from the first page and setting down to sleep, eat or urinate was torture. Ingro has found her voice with His Ever After, she's hit her stride and I hope it's a trail she stays on because I really, really enjoyed this book.

Quick Note ~ His Ever After is book two but can be read as a stand alone.

"I couldn't let you take her from me. She's my world, man. You can't imagine what we've been through, the highs or the lows. You waltzed in with your carefree life and tempted her. While I was working my ass off to give her the life she deserves, you were weaseling your way into her pants. Don't you see how f***ed up that is? To knowingly steal another man's wife?" --Aiden Parker

I gotta be honest... I think I am in the minority here but at the end of Love Square I was not a Jacob fan. I thought that Aiden and Sam deserved to have their happily ever after. The epilogue to Love Square scared me and I was afraid to read His Ever After.

Jessica Ingro has turned me into a Jacob lover! His Ever After is told mostly from Jacob's POV. We get to see some of Love Square through Jacob's eyes. After a walk down memory lane, the story picks up from where Love Square left off. Jacob is still with Brooke. He finds out how Aiden and Brooke schemed to keep him and Sam apart. With this newfound knowledge, will Jacob fight for Sam? Will he let Sam and Aiden have their happily ever after and move on with someone else?

I loved how this story played out. Jacob and his girl are soul mates, and they are meant to have their happily ever after! I hope we'll get to read more about them in future books.

About the Author
Professor Jan Machowski received his MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Warsaw University of Technology in 1974 and 1979, respectively. After obtaining field experience in the Dispatching centre and several power plants, he joined the Electrical Faculty of Warsaw University of Technology where presently he is employed as a Professor and Director of the Power Engineering Institute. His areas of interest are electrical power systems, power system protection and control.

In 1989-93 Professor Machowski was a Visiting Professor at Kaiserslautern University in Germany where he carried out two research projects on power swing blocking algorithms for distance protection and optimal control of FACTS devices.

Professor Machowski is the co-author of three books published in Power System control and Stability (WPW, 2007). He is also a co-author of Power System Dynamics and Stability published by John Wiley & Sons, Ltd (1997).

Professor Machowski is the author and co-author of Power System stability and power system protection commissioned by the Polish Power Grid Company, electric Power Research Institute in the United States, Electrinstitut Milan Vidmar in Slovenia and Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Poland.

Professor Janusz Bialek received his MEng and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Warsaw University of Technology in 1977 and 1981, respectively. From 1981 to 1989 he was a lecturer with Warsaw University of Technology. In 1989 he moved to the University of Durham, United Kingdom, and since 2003 he has been at the University of Edinburgh where he currently holds the Bert Whittington Chair of Electrical Engineering. His main research interests are in sustainable energy systems, security of supply, liberalization of the electricity supply industry and power system dynamics and control.

Professor Bialek has co-authored two books and over 100 research papers. He has been a consultant to the Department of trade and Industry (DTI) of the UK government, Scottish Executive Elexon, Polish Power Grid Company, Scottish Power, Enron and Electrical Power Research Institute (EPRI). He was the Principal Investigator of a number of major research grants funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and DTI.

Professor Bialek is a member of the Advisor Board of Electricity Policy Research Group, Cambridge University, a member of the Dispute Resolution Panel for the Single Electricity Market Operator, Ireland, and Honorary Professor of Heriot-Watt University, Scotland.

Dr Jim Bumby received his BSc and PhD degrees in Engineering from Durham University, United Kingdom, in 1970 and 1974, respectively. From 1973 to 1978 he worked for the International Research and Development Company, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, on superconducting machines, hybrid vehicles and sea-wave energy. Since 1978 he has worked in the School of Engineering at Durham University where he is currently reader in Electrical Engineering. He has worked in the tear of electrical machines and systems for over 30 years, first in industry an then in academia.

Dr Bumby is the author or co-author of over 100 technical papers and two books in the general area of electrical machines/power systems and control. He has also written numerous technical reports for industrial prizes including the Institute of Measurement and Control prize for the best transactions paper in 1988 for work on hybrid electric vehicles and the IEE Power Division Premium in 1997 for work on direct drive permanent magnet generators for wind turbine applications. His current research interests are in novel generator technologies and their associated control for new and renewable energy systems.

Good mix of math and illustrations

Good for practical, illustrated descriptions of power system stability and control issues while still having a healthy amount of math. Complementary to Power System Stability and Control by Prabha Kundar, which has more math and a little less practical descriptions.

Great book!

This book is totally awesome! Very useful for ones whose major is power in EE. Explain every kind of power system danamics encountered in a practical power system and full of explicit mathematical and theoratical steps included. However, if you have no background in power system analysis and electrical machinery, it will be very hard for you to understand the details in the book. BTW, shipping very fast!

An elevated look at supply chain management and influence

Global Supply Chain Ecosystems: Strategies for Competitive Advantage in a Complex World by Mark Millar provides a multi-dimensional look at supply chains. The ecosystem concept was originally used by the Financial Times to describe the increasingly complex nature of business in general. When it is applied to supply chain operations, it provides us with the idea that chains are more spherical than linear and non-consecutive.

One of the things I realized early in my reading of the book is that Millar is writing from a much different perspective than the authors we am used to hearing from. His biography lists him as a speaker, presenter, and board member. His view of supply chains in general, and their potential value contribution to the modern competitive enterprise, is more elevated.

For instance, there is no lament that supply chain leaders do not often enough have an established position at the executive table – Millar has held too many executive level roles at globally recognized companies for that to make any sense. Instead, he advocates for supply chain leaders to play a greater role in the boardroom. He also poses a compelling question about when CEOs will realize that, in fact, the supply chain IS the business. This realization will change both the influence trajectory of supply chain operations and the ability of the enterprise to adjust to changing conditions.

Marketing is positioned as a critical internal partner for supply chain, with Finance as more of a secondary concern – another break from the status quo that make me think that a view from the trenches is causing us to unknowingly pursue limited strategies.

Some things seem to be the same no matter how high your role is. Collaboration is acknowledged as a challenge, rooted in the natural human inclination to hold information close to the vest. I liked the points Millar made about visibility – something we all pursue more of - only being possible through collaboration. Because of the interconnected nature of supply chain ecosystems, visibility can only be achieved through collaboration because at this point one internal operation, no matter how robust) is like looking at a single data point.

The requisite topics of risk (which is related to but not synonymous with vulnerability) and talent (where challenges exist in both developed and undeveloped economies) both make an appearance. More compelling is Millar’s discussion of trade agreements, both new and proposed, and how they can be anticipated to affect business strategy. Compliance with these agreements must be pursued at multiple tiers of the chain, especially in more heavily regulated industries.

Looking forward to a future of supply chain innovation, infrastructure investments are key, requiring public and private sector entities to work closely together (note: this is the second supply chain title in as many weeks that I have read this idea in. The blurring of the line between the two sectors is something to watch). Warehouse robotics, 3D printing, drones, and omni-channel supply chains (something you are actually familiar with even if you don’t know the term) are all being explored by thought leaders for their potential contributions to competitive advantage.

The book is light on in-text citations, especially around numbers and statistics, something that only research wonks like me probably care about. I would think of reading this book like getting the opportunity to pick the brain of someone well beyond your pay grade over lunch. Millar is open about his ideas, most of which push us to set our goals higher than many of us think is possible. You just have to be prepared to overcome some of your fears to accomplish them.

The sheer scale and scope of modern-day global supply chains can be a sight to marvel at. It is something that (dependent on your age) our parents may not fully comprehend and it may confound our grandparents. Regular members of the public who don’t focus on how their latest tech toy gets into their hands or how fresh fruit arrives from the other side of the world to a supermarket probably underestimate the complexity behind their purchase.

So it was a pleasure to read this professionally orientated book that looks at global supply chain ecosystems. The author takes both industry newbie and more experienced participant on a fast-paced, informative tour of some of the latest trends and industry developments that are affecting this industry segment, looking at how they impact emerging, developing and developed markets alike.

Make no mistake, this is a specialist book but it is also something that a generalist or non-industry participant could get a lot of knowledge from. Managing the supply chain can require the skills of a chess grandmaster – looking at multi-dimensional views of your network whilst analysing contingency plans and looking for that competitive edge.

A global supply chain is not just for the big business players; its impacts can affect us all. Clearly there is greater global supply chain complexity for Apple to make a worldwide launch of its iPhone than someone buying a spare part from a Chinese e-retailer, yet that spare part will have been subjected to many supply chain issues before it was sold and certainly many more before it lands in your hand.

Some of the examples given by the author are stunning in their own right and should encourage anyone who can to look over their processes. Such as Australia’s largest department store managing (in 2010-11) saving 25 million dollars by transforming its supply chain. The company didn’t stop buying products; it just got them to its stores in a more streamlined, efficient and managed fashion. In other words 25 million dollars of “free money.” When the supply chain can be responsible for between 63-90 per cent of a company’s total spend (a survey noted) this is a great potential area to save on; even a few per cent of a lot of money is a lot of money.

But wait, there’s more. The author notes that savings in the supply chain also lead to further potential impact on the balance sheet as accounts receivable and cash assets will be bettered by order fill rates, invoice accuracy and lead times. Supply relationships, supply management and inventory policies will influence balance sheet inventory too. You may be running a tighter, faster and more reactive ship in the long run!

This book just keeps on giving and giving; you just need to sit down, focus and then seek to implement its advice. For not even the cost of one hour of a consultant’s time, you are getting a goldmine. Even if you believe you are your country’s supply chain guru, surely you will find a new perspective, a new tip, a new idea or something actionable from this book… and if you don’t? Well, it will confirm that you are perfection personified and right on top of your game, won’t it!

Awesome book!!!

I read this book for a graduate class in leadership. Although I am not a principal yet, it is an awesome read for anyone in education. I feel it can also be beneficial to those in the business world outside education. Just take out the word teachers, and you can easily substitute "workers". I liked this book so much, I also bought his book " Dealing with Difficult Parents"

My 9 year old daughter is a MLP fanatic. She loves Daring Do and begged for this book when she saw it had been released.
She's a fast reader and she had it read in 1 day. She continues to read it because as she says "It's a great story mom."

I would recommend this to any child who loves reading or loves MLP or possibly both.

Hi and a very warm welcome to "NFL (American Football)". A Fascinating Book Containing NFL Facts, Trivia, Images & Memory Recall Quiz: Suitable for Adults & Children. I'm one of those people who loves to hear about extraordinary facts or trivia about anything. They seem to be one of the few things my memory can actually recall. I'm not sure if it's to do with the shock or the "WoW" factor but for some reason my brain seems to store at least some of it for a later date. I've always been a great believer in that whatever the subject, if a good teacher can inspire you and hold your attention, then you'll learn! Now I'm not a teacher but the system I've used in previous publications on Amazon seems to work well, particularly with children. This edition includes a selection of those "WoW" facts combined with some pretty awesome pictures, if I say so myself! At the end there is a short "True or False" quiz to check memory recall and to help cement some of the information included in the book. Don't worry though, it's a bit of fun but at the same time, it helps to check your understanding. Please note that if you're an expert on this subject then you may not find anything new here. If however you enjoy hearing sensational and extraordinary trivia and you like looking at some great pictures then I think you'll love it. Matt.

Phenomenal book for Self-study

The pacing in this book is phenomenal. Every topic is explained with more than enough detail and without tangents.

The one thing this book does better than any other Number Theory book are the in-chapter questions. The questions are done so well that WANT to do them. You feel as if you are missing vital information by not doing them. This is one of the few books I can study for hours on end because you are constantly being engaged as you are working through the chapter, instead of mindlessly reading and hoping you remember everything you've just read. They questions aren't very difficult (full worked solutions for every problem if needed), but they are just hard enough to make you have to think.

That is also it's only downside. You cannot jump between sections sometimes. The book assumes you follow it from the beginning of a section to the end as it sometimes teaches you vital information via the in-chapter questions.

If you are looking to self-study then you will not find a better book. I've tried every Number Theory book with decent ratings on Amazon, and this is by far the best.

An almost perfect square

That the book's almost square is easily gathered from the photo. That it's almost perfect must be verified by reading it. And what an enjoyable verification indeed awaits those who take on the challenge! Not that reading it is a challenge - on the contrary, the Joneses take every effort to ensure your learning experience be as painless as possible. Every proof is complete, all exercises are solved. The proofs are always selected for their instructional merit, rather than for their mathematical "elegance" (read: brevity and algebraic gimmickry). As one Amazonian reviewer put it: you could read it through, lying in a bubble bath.

Another Amazonian reviewer commented that "Number theory is like the cement on your driveway. Real and Complex analysis are the Porsche and Ferrari you drive home every night." I disagree. In any case, in my opinion the book's weak spots are those sections where the discussion forays into the realm of real and complex analysis, namely 9.4-6 ("Random Integers", "Evaluating Zeta(2)", "Evaluating Zeta(2k)"), 9.9 ("Complex variables"), 10.2 ("The Gaussian Integers"), a part of 10.6 ("Minkowsky's Theorem") and 11.9 ("Lame and Kummer"). "Sums of two squares" (Section 10.1) could also use improvement, but this is compensated by the excellent, independent treatment this topic receives in the "Minkowsky's Theorem" chapter.

On several occasions, from the very beginning, the book assumes familiarity with single-variable polynomials (particularly the division algorithm and the x^n-y^n expansion). Be prepared.

If it weren't for the forays mentioned above, the book would have been a straight fiver. But even as it stands, it's a tour-de-force of pedagogy and expository mathematical writing.

One last quibble. The book doesn't have a homepage, nor is there any indication of a way to contact the authors. Textbook publishers should learn from their colleagues in the applied computer science publishing industry (such as O'Reilly, Wrox, Apress, etc.) and always make a homepage available for every book, with, at the minimum, a link to an errata page, and a forum where readers of the book can discuss it, (preferably with the involvement of the author(s)).

A Satisfactory Text for Elementary Number Theory

I've recently received my copy of Elementary Number Theory by Jones and Jones, and I'm (thus far) satisfied with the textbook. Although I'm not a professional mathematician, I have worked toward a degree in math and still love to study it. For me, the current textbook for number theory is a challenge to master, but with all the solutions to problems provided, I find it quite palatable to work toward an understanding of number theory, using this text.

In this, the logical next step for the author of 2004's bestseller French Women Don't Get Fat, Guiliano stretches what amounts to a single weight loss tactic-don't eat so much-into a second book-length weight-loss guide, this time with recipes. Though they're meant to be nourishing and satisfying in small portions, Guiliano's recipes are devoid of nutritional information and, in many cases, descriptions of the finished dishes. Unremarkable but perfectly acceptable recipes abound, including sweet potato french fries, Spaghetti Carbonara, Ratatouille, chocolate mousse, and panna cotta, with occasional standouts like Eric Ripert's luxurious Croque Monsieur, incorporating brioche, caviar, smoked salmon and Jarlsberg cheese. In all, Guiliano seems more concerned with luxe details (tips on opening and preserving champagne, though salient, set the tone), and never misses an opportunity to talk up her jet-setting lifestyle and TV appearances; as such, her self-regarding commentary is as likely to irritate as to inspire. Somewhat ironically, Guiliano's best advice comes in a tacked-on chapter inspired by the frequently asked questions of readers and television hosts, including sound advice on sodium, exercise, and getting families into better eating habits. Fans of the franchise will likely be satisfied, but those unfamiliar with Guiliano's approach will find this volume lacking.

Good Book with wonderful tips for enjoying life while staying slim

As an English ex-Pat, living in the USA for the past 16 years, I can relate to much of what this book has to say. I went from walking everywhere several times a day...buying groceries daily, cooking home made meals daily, walking to the shops, library, school, doctors office...to a life of driving everywhere and weekly grocery shops and a lot more eating out and fast foods. My weight immediately started to go up after I moved here, and I put on 20 pounds in the first 6 months. I've been struggling with it ever since...not overweight according to my BMI, but just uncomfortable with myself. Add to that 9 years of working night shift as an RN and the amount of convenience foods, processed yuck and being too tired to exercise on my days off (or catching up on lost sleep) and the problem, along with my cholesterol levels, just multiplied. Happily two things have happened that I fully intend to change things: A 'Sprouts' store opened within easy walking distance of my house, and I finally retired from nursing...I finally had the time to walk more AND cook home made meals again...but I still wasn't losing weight, why? Reading this book helped me realise what I was still doing wrong: 1. I was still locked in the 'One Huge Dish Per Meal' mindset, serving a huge bowl of pasta or casserole, or a giant plate loaded with meat, potatoes & veggies at each dinner time, and attempting to compensate by not eating breakfast or even lunch sometimes (then snacking on chocolate whenever I was hungry). 2. I was still thinking of walking as 'exercise'...I would plan on going 'hiking' around the trails near our house, or driving to hike in one of the many beautiful parks here, and dress up in my hiking boots etc., but because that took so much time out of my day it turned out to be a very rare occurrence. I started reading this book about a week ago and have already lost 4 lbs...4 lbs eating breakfast, lunch and 3-course meals for dinner. I'm absolutely amazed. Her advice on eating more courses but much smaller amounts of each course are absolutely spot on. Quality food over quantity. Just go for a walk...no dressing in special clothes, just pop your coat on if needed and go for a stroll in your neighborhood, or to your local shops to browse or buy groceries if they are within walking distance. Use the stairs, not the elevators, park further away from the store and walk...all make perfect sense. And her recipe for Leek Soup as a quick weight loss starter is just a miracle worker...even though I made Leek & Celery Soup, and we are only having it for lunch and sometimes also as an appetizer for our 3-course evening meals, I have seen not only a loss in weight, but I feel so much better. I always felt heavy, bloated and immobile after one of our previous 'One Huge Dish' dinners, but I can eat a 3-course dinner of delectable, quality items and feel wonderful afterwards (and I actually enjoyed preparing 3-course meals...the effort needed burns calories too!). Of course the book has some bad points...there is far too much boasting about Champagne and living the high life that she can with the high salary she earns...there are a lot of things that are not in the daily budget of the average person, but you can modify the general ideas with a bit of creativity to suit your own budget. And despite her reassurances that Working French Women are able to find the time to do all of these things...I take that with a pinch of salt, although I did save time by making multiple servings of desserts and pate's and freezing them for later dinners. I also just purchased a soup machine to help with the complexity of getting an appetizer on the table and having time to sit and enjoy it while still having to cook the main course. Yes, there's such as a thing as a soup machine...they are available on Amazon too :).

A fascinating approach to eating.

French women don't get fat, is a fascinating approach to eating. It is a very common sense, logical book. There are so many diets out there, it's ridiculous. Most of them try to get people to lose weight by some fast overdone method, but don't deal with the overall problem. The overall problem is adjusting how you eat after The diet. I think reality is, you have to stop thinking about a diet and think about how you're going to eat for the rest of your life. The thing that so successful about French women don't get fat, is it's not about not having a piece of chocolate or a piece of ice cream or almost any other kind of food for that matter. It's all about portion control. What a ridiculously simple concept. But it's one that so many diets ignore it's so often comes down to calories in versus calories out, if you aren't a real exercise fanatic, you have to limit the calories in. But one of the things that I discovered, is that if you eat really great tasting food, you don't need gallons of it. In our society today. We are so hooked on junk food and mediocre tasting food, that we eat tons of it to find satisfaction. When you're eating a big Mac or something like that, the taste is so ordinary , but you find yourself eating more and more to satisfy that desire for something to taste good. But if you eat a small piece of something that's high-quality that taste great and is great for you, you Become so satisfying. And there is the key. You have to change your way of thinking. You have to start thinking about something that you are eating, and also something that you are truly enjoying. And then savor every small, noticed that word small, bite as you eat it. You will discover a lot of pleasure in that the side benefit of all that is that you'll start losing weight, because you're not consuming the giant volumes of calories that so many people do in our society. This is a fantastic book for you to read and help you reconsider what eating is really all about. You will discover a new pleasure in eating excellent tasting food rather than eating mediocre high-volume food. I highly recommend this book. Remember, it's not about a diet, it's about a lifestyle change.

Yes, you can enjoy food, become and remain slim, fit and healthy. Dig in folks.

Anyone looking for a strict formulaic dieting guide will be disappointed in this book. Those looking for a lifetime plan to embrace the pleasures of deliciously prepared food, whilst being reasonably fit and toned will be thrilled. I bought this book in hard copy in an airport lounge a number of years ago, and have lost count of the number I've purchased and given to friends. The author introduces us to a relationship with food that has gone sadly by the wayside in North America. We are at war with food. We "battle the bulge", "wrestle the pounds" and "whittle our waistline", to no avail if the obesity statistics are anything to go by. Europeans have an entirely different attitude to food, as she so compellingly describes in this collection of anecdotes, tips, and recipes.

This book started me on a journey to losing almost 20 pounds, very gradually and almost effortlessly. I've kept it off for several years. Once in a while a couple of pounds creep on and I recalibrate quickly, calmly and without losing any joy in what I'm eating. If you're ready for a "rapprochement" with food, this book is a marvellous starting point.
