Excellent information

This book has for anyone that questions why they can't remember something. That is probably most of the adult population.

I found the “Four Keys to Growth” very interesting and helpful. Actually I found the entire book helpful and will be re-reading it. Will read several times because of course I have already forgotten quite a bit that I read the first time.

After reading this I may need to back off on the caffeine and get more sleep.

This is a well written book with a lot to take in and benefit from.

I did not order nor did I download or receive this book. I think it is shameful that a company as large as Amazon does not have procedures online that customers can use to remedy situations like this. I have been a loyal and long time customer, but now I am considering doing all my online shopping elsewhere.

Great training aid

I recently received this book as a gift.

My dog and I began formal agility training about 3 years ago, have been running at trials about 1-1/2 years. I had some specific problems at trials - my dog did not work away from me, I had difficulty with tight turns; he consistently knocked the first jump bar; I didn't trust my dog. For example, at class I would use a rear cross and even a blind cross but at a trial I would revert to a front cross.

I read several chapters in the book: working away, tight turns, discrimination of obstacles, motivation problems and a few others. We practiced the exercises in the yard and at class. In the past four weekends we had 8 trials. My dog moved up from Open Standard to Excellent Standard, we finished Novice Fast and have two Q's in Open Fast. We moved up from Novice Jumpers to Open Jumpers and have two Q's.

The book helped us resolve some problems resulting in more consistently successful runs. The lessons in the book are valuable to those running Excellent level runs as well as Novice and Open. I found the book to be a great addition to formal agility training.

Great guide to get a better agility performance out of your dog, and YOU!

Very easy to follow, nicely explained, love the methods used, etc. This book is up-to-date (as of 2013), and is a great compliment to training classes. It will help you better understand why you do what you do, how to handle better, and how to train your dog what you want w/o using compulsion.

Good book, but the ebook version has some major problems. Would have given four stars but for that. I'd recommend the hard copy.

Best book on the subject

I bought my copy new from the book store years ago. Pictures of every handgun, rifle, and artillery piece used in WW2 complete with decriptions. There are no tanks or vehicles in this book. Even though the book is over 30 years old, it's still a solid reference book on the subject.

Excellent analysis of the stock market with lots of truth and humor. Don't be fooled by the 1940 copyright; investing hasn't changed much since then! I learned about this book streaming the 2016 Berkshire-Hathaway Annual Meeting when Warren Buffett commented this book was one of the best books about the stock market.

Wisdom Wrapped in Whimsy

Put down that ugly brokerage statement from the busted, dot-gone Bear market. Skip that news report of the latest bankruptcy filing and spend a couple of whimsical hours with author Fred Schwed, Jr. WHERE ARE THE CUSTOMERS' YACHTS? is a rejoinder to Wall Street's inflated self-confidence that begins with that classic question. Schwed's conversational style makes this a quick read. His style is 'wry', 'dead-pan', 'droll' - a bit of Andy Rooney, maybe a bit of 18th Century novelist Lawrence Sterne. Schwed looks back to the 1920's (published 1940, republished 1955) as "one of the great universal delusions of history" a period of "supreme miscalculation". It was a kind of grand "nonsense" we can relate to in our own post-internet bubble period. Schwed is more humorist than moralist. Misdoings on Wall Street are "overrated" often a mix of "bad luck and bad brains". Advisors are "romantics" who genuinely believe that the market's movements can be predicted. Often they become victims of their own "confused sincerity". Technical analysts are "pathetic", persuading themselves of predictive patterns in stock charts and statistical data. In the end market activity may repeat itself, but often "ponderously, with an infinite number of variations." Schwed takes the side of short sellers, an unpopular bunch who weigh against the general herd to profit when the market declines. He notes that such professional cynicism is never tolerated in an un-free society. Years before the Wall Street Journal began 'testing' the efficient market theory (EMT) selecting stocks with darts, Schwed relates the apocryphal story of a bank trust officer's relative success selecting stocks from his pen's random ink spots. In a timeless passage, Schwed summarizes his investment program: "When there is a stock-market boom, and everyone is scrambling for common stocks, take all your common stocks and sell them. Take the proceeds and buy conservative bonds...just wait for the depression...sell out the bonds...and buy back the stocks....Continue to repeat this operation as long as you live, and you'll have the pleasure of dying rich." Who can argue with a contrarian strategy that would have worked wonderfully in recent years.

Beginning with the icons of the war, Lowry notes that the reputation of such saintlike figures as Lincoln, Lee, and Stonewall Jackson is well deserved. However, the rank and file present quite another story, and Lowry tells it in an easy, armchair-style prose that is well documented with letters, diaries, court records, and other primary evidence. From camp followers to gay lovers to vulgar language, Lowry examines Civil War-era sex from every conceivable angle. Recommended for public libraries and as ancillary reading in academic libraries where Civil War materials are collected.

Revisionist sexual history is commonly overloaded with jargon and psychobabble, and it often erects a ponderous structure of didactic theory on a slender foundation of data. Lowry commits neither of these faults and, in addition, exhibits great erudition and even wit. Drawing on a wide variety of primary sources--from letters that escaped the censoriousness of their writers' descendants to court-martial reports, prostitutes' diaries, and the modest remaining examples of very immodest Victorian erotica--Lowry argues that, in spite of Victorian mores, a thoroughly normal amount of sexual activity went on under the covers and in other places during the war. Rape may have been rare, but sexual activity was as universal as ever. Readers of this book will have fun, too. Roland Green

About thirty years ago I was reading Bill Wiley's immortal classic, The Life of Johnny Reb. On page 51 he asserted that a sexual history of the Civil War could never be written because of Victorian destruction of salacious material. I'm a contrarian. I began assembling material in a cardboard box. When the box weighed twenty-five pounds, I began to write. I liked the result. Thirty-five publishers did not. With guidance from William C. "Jack" Davis, Robert K. Krick, and Michael P. Musick the book emerged, vastly improved,�and has since sold 32,000 copies.� The facts, presented in a non-prurient way, seem to have�amused many Civil War buffs. Later books, with even more facts and figures, had a lesser impact -- the taboo of mixing sex and the Civil War had already been lifted.

The Dark Side of the Ledger

Thomas P. Lowry, a physician with an interest in history, seeks to dispel the common perception that the American Civil War was fought by sublime marble figures on horseback. In large part he succeeds, but only by way of over-kill on the seemly side. Indeed, some readers may walk away from this book convinced that the War Between the States was fought entirely by drunken, insubordinate, gambling prostitute-chasers.
The book consists of 17 short chapters, each covering a short topic that forms part of the author's tapestry. Chapters include topics such as officer misconduct, court martials, rape, VD and prostitution, all in relation to army units. The author does make some valid points here that are supported by documentary evidence, such as the high VD rates in the Union army that probably had an operational impact. While deaths from VD were not an immediate issue, up to 25% or more of soldiers in some units were debilitated. The units that were hardest hit by this disease were those that were stationed for prolonged periods of time near cities, rather than combat units in the field that had low rates. Although the evidence on the Southern side is weaker, apparently the Confederate army had lower VD rates since more of their forces remained in the field for longer periods. However, on most subjects the author's evidence is fragmentary, based on hospital returns and provost martial records.
Other parts of this book are based on scraps of diaries, letters and other wartime bric-a-brac. At times the author is overly-salacious and tends toward gossipy assertions, such as President Lincoln's relationship with a former male law partner. Another chapter on religious scandals involves two chaplains and is not very germane to this account. Overall, historians might find this book interesting for shedding some light on the darker corners of the Civil War, particularly in reference to certain individuals such as Major General Judson Kilpatrick and Major General Joseph Hooker. Military readers might appreciate the information concerning the impact of disease on troop discipline and morale. However, the book is rather superficial and includes no appendices or supporting data. Some of the depiction of events, such as Daniel Sickle's role at Gettysburg is inaccurate, where the author claims, "in a few hours, half his corps was dead or wounded." In fact, Sickles' 3rd Corps suffered 35% losses in the entire three days at Gettysburg. Readers should treat other passages with equal circumspection.

What a fun story!

This story is fun and witty, and you all should definately read it. It's a lovely story about Sam and Aaron and how things don't always be what it seems in the first sight.
The author, Jacklyn Dumais has the talent of writing very enchanting stories. When you'll start reading this, you won't be able to but it down until you're finished. So, if you want to spend a relaxing moment, I'll higly recommend you to read this book.

Exactly as the title says, this book is a very pleasant read with just the right amounts of drama and comedy to keep you going, not to mention, the author's witty sense of humour kept me constantly turning pages (electronically, of course).

Really Enjoyed

I really enjoyed this book. The story was believable with emotions and reactions that I could relate to. I love stories with the "thin line between love and hate" angle and this one had it. I liked both Samantha and Aaron and could see myself being friends with a couple like that. I hated that the story ended.
